In the morning of 27th Oct 2017, the Smart City Sweden kick-off ceremony in China was held at the Swedish embassy in Beijing.

Smart City Sweden is a national export and investment platform that shares Swedish sustainable solutions for smart cities. It is funded partly by the Swedish Government through the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation and the Swedish Energy Agency, and partly by the industry and business promoting networks. It is managed by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, in close collaboration with business promoting networks and organizations, as well as private companies.

During the ceremony, IVL vice President Mr. Östen Ekengren gave an introduction on the background, organization, key elements of Smart City Sweden, and showed some pictures of the visiting groups from China since the opening in May. Half of all delegations so far have come from China. Head of IVL China office Ms. GAO Si introduced the development of the IVL China team, which will be the major force for promoting Smart City Sweden in China.

The Swedish Ambassador Anna Lindstedt delivered the welcome speech, and announced the kick-off together with Mr. Östen Ekengren. Counselor Micael Hagman hosted the meeting, while around 40 representatives from Chinese and Swedish organizations (government, enterprises, associations etc.) joined the meeting.
