Drive Sweden Innovation Cloud – the digital innovation platform for connected automated mobility

Drive Sweden Innovation Cloud is the meeting point, marketplace and digital tool for cooperation, innovation and creating commercial services for connected automated mobility.

We are on the verge of a radical shift within automated mobility. In a few years we will see entirely new mobility business models, helping to enable sustainable cities. But this development requires securely connected semi-autonomous and autonomous vehicles. Drive Sweden Innovation Cloud is a leading technology and service platform in this field, aiming to support and increase the automation of transport. It works as a shared cloud-based platform with functionality for connected vehicle fleets, connected infrastructure, data sharing and interfaces for test sites and partners. The Innovation Cloud is a combined meeting point, marketplace and digital tool to speed up the progress towards sustainable mobility.

A new approach to mobility

Automated mobility is not just about driverless vehicles. It’s a completely new approach to mobility. One of the core ideas of Drive Sweden Innovation Cloud is that automated vehicles and new mobility services will benefit significantly from being connected and managed at system level, rather than having ‘autonomous’ vehicles and services operating independently of one another, mainly using local sensors and local intelligence. The idea going forward is to continue building connected services and cooperation that create and support leading services within automated mobility.

A tool for sharing insights and knowledge

The Innovation Cloud is tailor-made for B2B data and sharing insights. It allows organisations to connect data streams and trade them with other organisations across the globe. It also allows organisations and people to use and purchase data streams by subscribing to different sources. This allows the Innovation Cloud to work as a marketplace, a meeting place and a tool in which data and intelligence from numerous projects and organisations can be used, combined and shared, boosting knowledge, cooperation and innovative power.

A platform for innovative pilot schemes and projects

The Innovation Cloud platform was developed between 2016 and 2018 within the Drive Sweden strategic innovation programme. This programme aims to develop, demonstrate and implement sustainable mobility solutions that are efficient, connected and automated. The Innovation Cloud is used as a platform for Drive Sweden’s projects and pilot schemes such as LIMA, Test Site Stockholm, Connected Automated Truck and AD Aware 3.

From concept to commercialisation

The platform has attracted national and international interest, and parts of its functionality have already been commercialised, such as the Connected Traffic Tower, which was established to provide safe, efficient connection and control of automated vehicles and mobility services. Services based on the Traffic Tower have been launched both as trials and commercially by Drive Sweden partners including Ericsson, Scania, Carmenta and Veoneer.
