Smart City Sweden is a state-funded export platform that initiates cooperation between Sweden and other countries within smart & sustainable city solutions.
At our six regional offices around Sweden, we welcome international delegations on the decision-making level with an interest in implementing Swedish solutions in their local context.
Smart City Sweden gathers best practice from Sweden within five areas: Climate, Energy & Environment, Mobility, Digitalisation, Urban planning and Social sustainability. We tailor our visit programs depending on the needs of the visitors.
The Smart City Sweden head office is located in Hammarby Sjöstad, Stockholm, one of the world’s most famous sustainable city developments. But there is a lot more to discover in other parts of Sweden. Here on our website, and by visiting our head office or one of our six regional offices, you can explore smart and sustainable city solutions from all over the country.
On the regional contact pages, you will find a short introduction and areas of expertise of each region, as well as contact information.
Sweden has a long history as a pioneer in issues relating to the environment and sustainable development in a broader sense. With cutting-edge solutions within areas such as waste management, biogas and mobility, water, air and district heating & cooling, Sweden is leading the way to a more sustainable future.
The story of Smart City Sweden began in 2016, with the aim to export solutions within environmental technology. In 2019, the project expanded to focus on Urban Planning, Digitalisation and Social Sustainability, in addition to the previous areas: Mobility, Climate, Energy and Environment.
Since the opening in May 2017 in Hammarby Sjöstad, a sustainable urban district in central Stockholm, Smart City Sweden has welcomed 6000 visitors from over 60 different countries, all interested in implementing solutions within one or several of our focus areas.
Today, Smart City Sweden keeps developing and the interest in visiting the platform is constantly increasing. Eight government agencies and six regional offices contribute with expertise in our five focus areas, adding examples of best practice as well as companies that are ready to take their solutions to new markets.
