Ronneby Municipality invests in Cradle to cradle® as a method to achieve circular economy, healthy materials, diversity and renewable energy. The method implies a positive attitude that has been implemented in Hulta preschool, with an environment of conscious material choices and unique outdoor environment and pedagogy.
Ronneby Municipality invests in Cradle to cradle® (C2C) as a method to achieve circular economy, healthy materials, diversity and renewable energy in construction and for organizations. This means a positive approach that is implemented in all three dimensions of sustainability: environmental, social and economic. Hulta preschool has a sustainability profile inspired by Cradle to Cradle® and the building is certified according to Sweden Green Building Council.
Building materials, furnishings and consumables are selected from a non-toxic perspective using the material database SundaHus Miljödata (SundaHus i Linköping AB). The building materials in the building have been documented in this material database which facilitates future renovation, re-use or demolition of the building.
The outdoor environment is created in collaboration with the Swedish University of Agricultural Science (Alnarp’s landscape laboratory). Together with SLU, Ronneby Municipality has designed a forest area instead of a traditional playground. No asphalt has been used in the outdoor environment, but other material choices have been made.
The method of Cradle to cradle® (C2C) has affected the entire process from planning and construction to activities and pedagogy. During the process, collaboration has taken place with various actors from authorities, universities, consultants and suppliers. Important elements have been stakeholder analysis, innovations, education and follow-up. Sustainable development is a priority work in preschool activities, where the municipality wants to give the children a basic environmental awareness that continues their life and give the children an understanding of why we should care for our planet. The preschool is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and work on digital development is part of the organization.
