Sustainable Housing in Lomma Harbour
In the early years of the new millennium, the municipality of Lomma with a population of some 20,000 people, embarked on a major project to expand and renew the central area around the small harbour and beach. The goal was to expand the population by 30 per cent, and at the same time remodel the central part of the municipality so that it would become more attractive to residents.
The Ecological City of Tomorrow in the Western Harbour, Malmö
Western Harbour, previously a run-down shipyard and industry area of 187 hectares, is today a vivid “city within a city” with a university, ~10,000 inhabitants and more than 16,000 people working (2016). The area has its own systems for managing its energy supply and waste treatment. Car traffic in the area has been minimized as an environmentally friendly approach to urban planning and mobility.
