Ecohelix

Ecohelix

Ecohelix is a biotechnology company, providing climate saving alternatives to the chemical industry.

Ecohelix produces natural and highly serviceable polymers with the tradename WOODMER®. The polymers can be used as additives in paper chemical products, adhesives in construction and packaging as well as emulsifiers and dispersants in various applications ranging from cosmetics to construction. While producing the WOODMER® biopolymer, we seamlessly integrated to the host pulping process and improve it through de-bottlenecking of the recovery cycles.

Our unique technology utilizes the natural process of wood formation, harnessing the enzymatic process to create the high performing polymers. The Ecohelix WOODMER® product is a wood-based amphiphilic biopolymer, which consists of wood components hemicellulose and lignin. Through a sophisticated biomimicking process using laccase enzyme as a catalyst, we can create a high performing and controllable polymer structure.

The biobased Ecohelix products can reduce up to 96 % of the greenhouse gas emissions compared to competing solutions. In some cases, Woodmer products have up to 10 times higher performance than existing solutions in the market.

Already in demo scale production at Domsjö Fabriker biorefinery in Sweden, we are ready to create climate impact and provide an attractive solution to pulp mills and the chemical industry.
