The carbon cycle is currently imbalanced, posing significant challenges and risks to our environment. Jord addresses this critical issue from both directions: carbon removal and emission reduction.
Jord is committed to restoring the global carbon cycle and advancing the production of renewable products.
Jord is producing solid biofuel and biochar from C4-grass, which is used to regenerate degraded and marginal land. Jord’s unique approach solves three problems simultaneously:
– Degraded land unfit for food production;
– Dependency on fossil fuels; and
– Increasing levels of CO₂ in the atmosphere.
Jord uses specialized C4-grasses on marginal and degraded soils. As these grasses grow, within Jord’s regenerative agroforestry model, they efficiently removes CO₂ and store it in the grass tissues, root system, and soil as organic matter, gradually enriching the soil and increasing overall soil health. The harvested grass is transformed into two products: Solid biofuels and Biochar
Jord’s solid biofuels, are a renewable energy source that provides a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. It is well-suited for generating heat and power in the manufacturing industry. The biochar produced during this process is added to the soil to improve its quality and fertility, leading to enhanced soil health and increased crop yields. Jord’s biochar is highly resistant to decomposition, ensuring its stability in the soil for hundreds of years. Jord also provides carbon credits from avoidance and removal projects for businesses committed to reducing CO₂ emissions by offsetting otherwise unavoidable carbon emissions within their value chains.
