DigIT Hub Helps Businesses and Public Sector Achieve Digitalisation Goals

There is broad consensus that we cannot continue with business as usual if we are to achieve both a sustainable and prosperous future. DigIT Hub is an initiative that helps companies and the public sector digitalise in a unique, collaborative way.

Three regional cluster organisations have joined forces to lead the DigIT Hub initiative: Mobile Heights, Media Evolution, and the IUC Syd industrial development centre. Together, they represent approximately 500 businesses and organisations in southern Sweden. DigIT Hub works directly with public-sector entities and small to medium-sized manufacturing companies to support digitalisation initiatives that contribute to the development of ‘smart cities’ and ‘smart industry’.

Digitalisation to support sustainability

Here, digitalisation is being used as an engine to implement sustainable and efficient working methods, strengthen digital infrastructure and provide better tailored services in the region. Organisations are supported throughout their digital transition and helped to keep up to date and meet the changing expectations of customers, employees and citizens, whose lives are becoming increasingly digital.

No digitalisation idea or challenge is too big or too small to raise through DigIT Hub, and the initiative offers both introductory and advanced support in the following areas:
• Tools & Services
DigIT Hub helps organisations identify, test and implement appropriate technology and digital processes tailored to individual organisations’ needs and digital maturity.

• Skills & Training
DigIT Hub works in close collaboration with training centres, colleges and academia to offer education that boosts digital skills and secures the future digital literacy of the workforce in southern Sweden.

• Support Network
DigIT Hub offers access to a broad support system of digitalisation experts, financers and suppliers, regionally, nationally and throughout Europe, and helps organisations navigate and benefit from them.

Mobilisation across sectors and organisations

DigIT Hub demonstrates ways to establish and conduct inter-organisational digitalisation projects that successfully mobilise stakeholders across economic sectors and geographical areas to the benefit of smart city initiatives. As testament to the important work underway, DigIT Hub was selected by Sweden’s innovation agency, Vinnova, as a Swedish candidate for European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) Status.

A broad range of partners and organisations

The initiative is co-led by Lund University (LTH) and Malmö University, and backed by key partners in the public sector, research, business and industry. DigIT Hub is also jointly funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Region Skåne. DigIT Hub’s partners are: Region Skåne, Mobile Heights, IUC Syd, Media Evolution, Lund University, Malmö University, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Lund Municipality, City of Malmö, Sigma Connectivity, VATI of Sweden, Wallåkra Mekaniska, Festo, Nolato and Scanfil.
