QC Renewable Energy (QCRE) is a Swedish-founded renewable energy company dedicated to connecting people, communities, and markets through sustainable energy solutions. We believe that renewable energy is not only a tool for electrification, but also a catalyst for economic growth, social development, and stronger partnerships between Africa and the rest of the world.
We focus on designing, supplying, installing, and maintaining solar energy systems while fostering long-term collaborations between local communities, businesses, governments, and international partners. Through our projects, we aim to bridge knowledge, technology, and investment gaps between Africa and Western countries, creating opportunities for shared growth and sustainable development.
Why Renewable Energy?
940 million people worldwide still lack access to electricity, with the majority living in Sub-Saharan Africa. In East Africa, which is QC Renewable Energy’s main target area, 130 million of them live there have no access to electricity. There is no stable widespread distribution network and electricity prices are very high. The power is generally generated through fossil fuels. Millions of households, schools, health facilities, and businesses continue to face unreliable electricity supplies, high energy costs, and dependence on fossil-fuel-based generation.
At QC Renewable Energy, we see solar energy as one of the most practical and scalable solutions to these challenges. Africa possesses abundant solar resources that remain largely untapped. By delivering high-quality renewable energy systems and empowering communities with the knowledge and skills needed to operate and maintain them, we help maximize the long-term benefits of clean energy investments.

Our Story
QC Renewable Energy was founded through a shared ambition among students from Sweden and East Africa who met while studying Energy Engineering and Solar Energy at Dalarna University. United by a passion for renewable energy and sustainable development, they established QCRE with the goal of turning knowledge into practical solutions that make a lasting impact.
The name QC originates from Qurac, which means the Acacia tortilis tree, a resilient tree native to many parts of Africa. The tree symbolizes strength, adaptability, and sustainability values that guide our work. By promoting renewable energy alternatives, QC Renewable Energy seeks to reduce dependence on traditional biomass resources such as firewood and charcoal, helping to preserve ecosystems while improving livelihoods.
