Saveggy keeps quality of fruits and vegetables longer. Our plant-based protection technology extends shelf life by 3–4x and significantly reduces food waste at scale.
Today, nearly half of all fruits and vegetables are lost before consumption – a major economic and sustainability challenge for growers, packers, and retailers alike. Saveggy addresses this at the source, through protection applied directly after harvest, helping more food reach more people in better condition.
Plant-based Protection
Nature has its own ways of protecting fresh produce. Inspired by these principles, Saveggy developed a minimalistic recipe – just two edible ingredients, nothing else.
Founded in collaboration with Lund University, Saveggy’s protection is developed and produced in Sweden. When integrated after harvest, Saveggy’s protection works with the natural biology of fresh produce to slow moisture loss and ageing – maintaining quality, reducing food waste, and eliminating the need for plastic packaging.
The first product has been piloted with Swedish retailers and in collaboration with grower association Odlarna.se. Bell pepper, banana, zucchini, and aubergine are in development.
