Ever since we closed our physical offices around Sweden due to the outbreak of covid-19, Smart City Sweden has hosted digital meetings with delegations from all over the world, interested in urban planning, mobility, waste management, digitalisation and much more.
This year, we have hosted meetings with groups from 24 different countries, all interested in creating better, smarter and more sustainable communities in their local contexts. The meetings have resulted in various pre-studies and continued collaboration in areas such as mobility, digitalisation and waste management.
Sweden was recently ranked number one in the Sustainable Development Report, but we are far from done. To reach the goals set up in Agenda 2030 and create greener, healthier and more inclusive societies, we all need to continue to work together and share knowledge and best practices from around the world. This pandemic has shown us that it is possible to find ways to do so, even in a crisis.
As nations are slowly opening their borders again, Smart City Sweden will eventually start hosting physical delegations, but we will continue to welcome digital meetings for delegations who are not able to visit in person, or who prefer an online meeting. We will also continue to offer webinars and digital events.
Smart City Sweden is now taking a break for the summer, but we will be back in August to continue the collaboration for smarter cities.
Happy summer!
