Lund, in the south of Sweden, is, together with Bogotá, the 2022 winner of the WWF One Planet City Challenge. The cities were chosen out of 280 cities from 50 countries.
This year, 20 Swedish cities participated in the challenge, which over the years has included about 700 cities. An international expert jury decides the winner and has based the decision on picking Lund as one of the winners due to the city’s ambitious climate goals, political leadership and a transparent action programme.
This is the first time in the history of the challenge that two cities are chosen. Bogotá was rewarded for its ambitious climate programme and its role as a driver forward for other Colombian cities when it comes to climate-related issues.
