The Sustainable Development Report presents how well countries perform in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals in Agenda 2030. Sweden is measured to have reached 84,78 % of the global goals and is thus ranked as world-leader in reaching the goals.
Sweden achieves the goals of reduced poverty, good health and well-being, equality and affordable and clean energy, but is estimated to have major challenges in responsible consumption and production and climate action.
Looking at SDG 11, sustainable cities and communities, a moderate improvement can be measured in Sweden, but challenges remain. When it comes to access to improved piped water sources, Sweden ranks 99 out of 100.
In this year’s report, the effects of Covid-19 are taken into account and is believed to have a negative impact on the work of reaching most of the goals.
The neighbouring countries Denmark, last year ranked as number one, and Finland, are ranked number 2 and 3 in the 2020 edition.
