Last mile delivery – city distribution
Last mile delivery is the final stage in a good’s journey, where it is delivered to the end customer – the most carbon intensive stage. The growth of e-commerce is leading to increased traffic congestion and CO2-emissions from delivery vehicles. Carbon-neutral alternatives for last mile deliveries are currently being explored and some of the concepts being trialed in Gothenburg.
Electromobility in Gothenburg creates a greener and cleaner city
Fossil-based transportation creates noise and air pollution and is a major contributor to a city’s CO2 emissions. By enabling all forms of transport to run on electricity, electromobility has the potential to make cities greener, cleaner, and more livable.
Haraholmen – a green industrial park where sustainability is key
Haraholmen is an industrial park where sustainability is key. The site uses renewable energy, welcomes companies with green profiles, and is a hub for resource-efficient transportation with access to roads, railways, and a deep-water port.
Site East – a climate neutral construction site
At Skellefteå Site East, close to Northvolt’s factory, conditions are created to create the most sustainable development project ever. By maximizing the cutting edge know-how of both Skellefteå municipality and external partners, Skellefteå Site East is a source of inspiration for the industry. Both in terms of the courage to dare to think and act in new ways around sustainability, and in working together with contractors towards a common vision.
Skellefteå Airport – a green airport
At a time when the global aviation sector is facing increasing demands to get on a sustainable flightpath, one airport in northern Sweden has gotten a head start with an extensive vision that has led them to become one of Europe’s and probably the world’s first fossil-free airport. At the same time the airport is now preparing to become a testcenter for electric powered and vertical-starting aircrafts.
Ohboy, the Bicycle house!
Cykelhuset Ohboy (Ohboy, the Bicycle house) is designed, built and owned by the architects Hauschild + Siegel. When owning the process from the sketch table to the finished product these architects really can follow up on their vision and align the product with their original plans.
Evolution Road – the Next Generation Electric Roads
In the Evolution Road project, the next generation of ERS (Electric Road System) is being demonstrated and tested at a test site in Lund. ERS provides a charging infrastructure for all kinds of electric vehicles – with benefits such as longer driving range, seamless charging and reduced need for heavy batteries.
Vision Zero – Reducing Road Traffic Casualties and Injuries
When the concept of Vision Zero was introduced in 1997, it transformed the view of road safety work. Instead of trying to prevent all accidents, the goal is for no one to die or be seriously injured in a road accident. The initiative has led to a halving of deaths on Swedish roads.
Electric busses adapted to cold climate
It is a big challenge with electric vehicles in northern Europe is to adapt them to the cold climate, both in regard to function and comfort for passengers and drivers. In Umeå in Northern Sweden there is a company that has managed to develop a technology that makes it possible to run the buses even during a very cold winter day as well as a hot sunny day with advanced air heating/cold system.
Smart Living lab in the University district of Umeå
Umeå is a fast growing city in Northern Sweden with progressive and environmentally-friendly citizens. Located 600 km north of Stockholm, the 11th largest city in Sweden has a subarctic climate, with short and fairly warm summers, but lengthy and freezing winters. Umeå will continue to grow with ecological, economic and social sustainability. The purpose is to reduce the city’s CO₂ emissions through less energy use and sustainable transports. By developing smart business models and working methods, we will ensure that we will continue to be innovative when we are developing the sustainable city.
