Glava Energy Center

An international leading center for renewable solar energy solutions of tomorrow, within Education and Innovation

Glava Energy Center is an arena where different partners cooperate to create new opportunities for innovation, learning, development and testing in the field of especially PV-solar energy. The aim is to contribute to sustainable energy solutions and a more efficient use of energy.

The activities are expanded continuously and currently Glava Energy Center has a variety of different solar module systems in operation, many energy storage systems, a weather station a wind measurement mast, and a science center. There are also ongoing studies of local DC grids and microgrids.

Glava Energy Center is a development center at a regional, national and international level, and is to be open to companies and organizations that in one way or another are operating in the field of renewable energy or energy efficiency. Glava Energy Center is a meeting place for small groups, as well as for major conferences.

At Glava Energy Center short training courses for installers of PV-solar energy systems are offered on a regular base. Normally the training courses are 3-4 days long and includes both theoretical and practical sessions. Within shortly training courses for both project leaders and designers of PV-solar systems will be offered.

At Glava there is also a science center where everyone, young and old, are welcome to learn more about renewable energy. The science center is mainly build up around using LEGO modules

Evolution Road – the next generation electric road

In the Evolution Road project, the next generation of Electric Roads (ERS) is being demonstrated and tested at a test site in Lund. The ERS provides a charging infrastructure for all kinds of electric vehicles – with benefits such as extended driving, seamless charging and reduced need for heavy batteries in our vehicles.

Power flexibility market – CoordiNet

Power flexibility market – CoordiNet

The CoordiNet project seeks to explore the value of flexibility through the creation of a power flexibility market. At times when many want to use electricity, participants in the market can offer to reduce their electricity use or increase the electricity production and sell this flexibility service to the distribution grid operator Vattenfall.

MAX IV – synchrotron laboratory recycles excess heat via district heating system

The MAX IV Laboratory is a high-performance synchrotron laboratory which has been built with high ambitions to be energy efficient and mostly use energy from renewable resources. It recycles the excess heat via the district heating system in Lund and in return receives cooling water for the accelerator equipment. The facility was the first building to receive the classification BREEAM-SE.

Pilot for sustainable energy system: the island of Gotland

The island of Gotland has been chosen as a pilot region for Sweden’s transition to the future sustainable energy system. The main requirements for this transition are a safe and reliable energy supply that is both ecologically sustainable and economically competitive.

New technology makes the electricity grid smart

New technology makes the electricity grid smart

Smart sensors, redundant radio communication, AI-based decision support and advanced data analysis makes it possible to detect and position faults in the electricity grid immediately. In 2018, Exeri’s system was put into operation in the electricity grid around Malå, Sweden. Skellefteå Kraft installed the system for monitoring an approximately 40 kilometer long section and after the positive evaluation of the installation, the company now chooses to proceed with installation of monitoring and sensors on a large part of the electric grid.
