Through a long-term perspective, Sweden has become a world leader in waste management in a sustainable way.
For instance, the waste incineration plant Dåva1 in Umeå has been running for 16 years and is still one of the world’s most energy efficient and environmentally friendly plants for district heating and electricity with waste as the main fuel. The heat from the flue gases is recovered in the heat exchangers and advanced filtering system allows the degree of purification of air emissions is 99.5%. Dåva1 incinerating residual waste from the local area, but also import waste from other countries, Norway and the UK.
MTC drives research forward by helping customers develop new treatment technologies and find new uses for waste materials.
